UK Regulations

Each and every healthcare facility must comply with clinical and hazardous waste regulations to ensure the safety of healthcare professionals, patients, waste management operatives and the general public at all times. The waste produced by these facilities is often referred to as medical or clinical waste and refers to any waste material produced within the facility that cannot be considered or disposed of as a general waste product. Example of such healthcare facilities include hospitals, clinics, doctors practices veterinary hospitals as well as clinical laboratories.
Sterilwave technology is an innovative, cost effective, onsite solution for the treatment of clinical and medical waste streams.

Environmentally Friendly

Until now, the most common option for dealing with these clinical waste streams has been incineration. Although incineration methods are fully compliant with regulations for the sterilisation and disposal of clinical waste, this method is not without its drawbacks.
During the incineration process significant levels of by-products are produced and released into the environment which has a negative environmental impact. Additional special licensed carriers must be used to transports the waste material which further increases the cost of the process and also it’s impact on the environment.
In response to these issues, Eurotec Environmental in association with Bertin Technologies has innovated the Sterilwave process for the UK market, allowing medical and clinical waste streams to be processed and transformed into municipal waste on the waste producers site.
This radical new philosophy offers our clients financial savings, improved compliance and a greatly reduced environmental impact of processing the waste.
In a single cycle Sterilwave can effectively transform up to 440L / 35kg of material into municipal waste without it ever leaving the premises in which it was created. Once completed, the end waste product, now classified as municipal waste, is reduced in volume and weight by 80% and 20% respectively.
